I'm forever on a quest to achieve shiny, mirror-like hair that just exudes health. Because of this, I've started to dabble in the world of scalp scrubs and recently took up the practice of hair oiling, a centuries-old Ayurvedic practice that's finally getting attention in the western beauty space. One product, in particular, has been amazing for this: the new Anablue Treatment Oil ($42).

Founded by Lauren Perez Waltzers, an LA-based content creator and entrepreneur, Anablue was inspired by her Moroccan heritage and a desire to share her family's beauty traditions and rituals with the world. The hair oil is one of three core products from the brand; the other two are a scalp cleanser and hair serum.

I got to learn about the new line from Perez herself, who has the long, shiny, healthy hair of my dreams, so it's no exaggeration to say I ran home to try everything for myself. That's how I fell in love with the oil.

Ahead, I'm sharing my full review of the Anablue Treatment Oil, plus how I use it in my routine.

About the Anablue Treatment Oil

  • The treatment oil is formulated to condition your scalp and hair.
  • It's made from a blend of all-natural Moroccan oils such as argan, prickly pear seed, and Damascus rose.
  • It has a light, floral scent of rose.
  • Its key benefits include boosting shine, conditioning, and strengthening hair.
  • The product is vegan, cruelty-free, and dermatologist tested.

What I Like About the Anablue Treatment Oil

The Anablue Treatment Oil has completely elevated my hair-care routine. From the stunning cobalt-blue glass-dropper bottle to the luxurious scent, the entire product is an experience. The formula contains a blend of Moroccan oils. Argan oil helps hydrate, while vitamin E– and vitamin K–packed prickly pear seed oil provides your scalp and hair with antioxidants.

The first thing I noticed about the treatment oil was the light rose scent that is reminiscent of a trip to the spa. It makes the entire process of oiling my hair all the more enjoyable (which makes me far more likely to stick with it). The dropper makes it easy to dispense product into the palm of my hand or directly onto my scalp.

All it took was one use to notice a difference in my hair. I used it before showering, and even while wet, my hair felt softer than usual. After it dried, I noticed less frizz on my waves, and I had a reflective-like shine. I couldn't stop running my hands through my hair because it felt so good.

How to Use the Anablue Treatment Oil

There aren't too many hard-and-fast rules for using the hair treatment. Perez told me she sometimes puts the oil in her hair before slicking it back into a bun, allowing it to marinate for hours. I typically apply it about 30 minutes before I want to shower. I start by brushing my hair to remove any knots, then use the dropper to dispense the oil directly to my scalp in three big sections. Using a scalp brush, I massage it into my roots before using a regular hairbrush to carry it down to my ends. If I feel like my hair needs a bit more, I'll put some extra oil into the palm of my hands and work it in, concentrating it at the bottom of my hair where it's extra dry.

To keep my hair out of the way, I pull it up into a claw clip and go about my evening. I'll dry brush, tidy up my apartment, or just scroll on TikTok until 30 minutes have passed. In the shower, I lather twice to make sure all of the oil is gone and it's extra clean — that way it doesn't weigh down my fine hair. Then I condition as usual. I've found that using it once a week keeps my hair healthy and shiny.

What to Consider Before Trying the Anablue Treatment Oil

The Anablue oil is a great weekly treatment for boosting the shine and hydration of your hair, as well as softening your ends. However, because you don't need to use it every time you shower, the bottle is on the smaller side. Still, a little bit goes a long way, so the bottle should last you a while.
