Britney Spears's Tell-All Memoir Drops This Month — Here's What We Know

Britney Spears is ready to share her story with the world. After the 41-year-old pop star signed a $15 million book deal for a tell-all memoir with publishing house Simon & Schuster, the publishing company announced on July 11 that the book, titled "The Woman in Me," will be out this fall.

"'The Woman in Me' is a brave and astonishingly moving story about freedom, fame, motherhood, survival, faith, and hope. In June 2021, the whole world was listening as Britney Spears spoke in open court. The impact of sharing her voice—her truth—was undeniable and changed the course of her life and the lives of countless others," Simon & Schuster told POPSUGAR in a press release. "'The Woman in Me' reveals for the first time her incredible journey — and the strength at the core of one of the greatest performers in pop music history. With remarkable candor and humor, Spears's groundbreaking memoir illuminates the enduring power of music and love — and the importance of a woman telling her own story, on her own terms."

"Britney's compelling testimony in open court shook the world, changed laws, and showed her inspiring strength and bravery," Jennifer Bergstrom, Gallery Books Senior Vice President and Publisher said in a statement. "I have no doubt her memoir will have a similar impact — and will be the publishing event of the year. We couldn't be more proud to help her share her story at last."

People exclusively confirmed on Oct. 13 that Michelle Williams will narrate the audio version of the memoir, with Britney recording the introduction. "This book has been a labor of love and all the emotions that come with it," Spears told the publication in a statement. "Reliving everything has been exciting, heart-wrenching, and emotional, to say the least. For those reasons, I will only be reading a small part of my audiobook."

Britney added, "I am so grateful to the amazing Michelle Williams for reading the rest of it."

"I stand with Britney," Williams told People in a statement of her own.

In a now-deleted video, Britney previously said of the project, "I worked my ass off for this book. I had a lot of therapy to get this book done, so you guys better like it. If you don't like it, that's fine, too."

In January 2022, Britney hinted at the possibility of writing a memoir when she posted a photo of a typewriter via Instagram. "Shall I start from THE BEGINNING???" she captioned the post. The news of Britney's memoir was officially announced in February 2022, three months after Judge Brenda J. Penny ruled to end the superstar's 13-year-long conservatorship.

Britney has been very vocal about her strained relationship with her family, including younger sister Jamie Lynn, who sat down with "Good Morning America" to promote her own memoir in January 2022. "Anyways, the two things that did bother me that my sister said was how my behavior was out of control," the mother of two wrote following Jamie Lynn's explosive "GMA" interview. "She was never around me much 15 years ago at that time .... so why are they even talking about that unless she wants to sell a book at my expense ???"

In her lengthy post, Britney also referenced her sister covering her hit song "Till the World Ends" as part of a tribute performance at the 2017 Radio Disney Music Awards. "I know it may sound like a silly thing to most people but I wrote a lot of my songs and my sister was the baby," she added. "She never had to work for anything. Everything was always given to her !!!!" She concluded with: "Hope your book does well, Jamie Lynn !!!! . . . My family ruined my dreams 100 billion percent and try to make me look like the crazy one . . . My family loves to pull me down and hurt me always so I am disgusted with them !!!" However, it seems Britney has been mending her relationship with Jamie Lynn in the past few months.
